As you must be aware that each second there are millions of searches across the world on the Search engines .Webusers enter their ‘query’ or ‘search keyword’ on the google search bar and Google does magic to display the near accurate answers in terms of search results or websites to satisfy the user’s knowledge need .And Search Engine Optimisation or SEO is a ‘protocol’ set by search engines which these websites must implement to satisfy the Google Search Algorithms’ elements , so that they can be shown in the search engines result pages .

How does the Google search algorithm work?

There could be thousands of websites that could be having the content which a user is looking for .Now just imagine the number of website google has to go through to pick out the best fit results for a search query that the user types .Since it is not possible for the search engine to look through all the websites page by page to deliver the right results ,they use small bits of code called ‘spiders or crawlers .The spiders find a set of webpages that are similar to each other They chase the links on these webpages to other pages and then chase the links from those webpages to another set of webpages and so on to fetch all these pages .As a result they fetch and index thousands of pages for all related content.
When someone searches for this content with certain relevant keywords, the spiders go through the indexed pages to find those keywords on them. However to display the best pages google has to rank the pages .This ‘pagerank’ is given to page by google depending upon certain criterias that the page passes .The pages with the most relevant quality content and pagerank are displayed to the web user.

How does google decide page rank for a page ?

The pagerank is a weightage given to a page ‘A’ by google in the form of number depending upon the number of good quality pages pointing or linking or voting to that page A. Here the quality of webpages linking to page A is more important than the number of pages linking to it.
